Pacific Should Ask for Carbon Tax

In the latest shipping edition of the Fiji Sun, an article by Dr. Peter Nuttall now proposes the introduction of a robust Carbon Tax. The opportunity for IMO to phase in a Carbon Tax now at $10 would provide billions of dollars in financing both research and development as well as addressing climate vulnerability. Setting a path to $100 per tonne by 2030 will contribute significantly toward financing the transition needed to decarbonise the shipping sector.
