COP31 Event – Financing a Just Maritime Transition in Pacific SIDS
Financing maritime decarbonisation in Pacific Island countries is not simply a question of securing more climate finance. It is also about how Pacific priorities can be translated into investment-ready projects, supported by appropriate financing mechanisms and institutional arrangements.
Over the past few months, our colleagues at Green Based Strategy Institute (GBSI) have been exploring these challenges through CLIMAFIC, drawing on research with Pacific stakeholders, including colleagues from the Pacific Islands Forum and our Micronesian Center for Sustainable Transport (MCST) team.
GBSI’s research has focused on barriers to project preparation, access to concessional and blended finance, and the institutional support needed to move from policy priorities to implementation.
On 11 November, they will bring their findings to COP31 in Antalya, where GBSI will host a policy dialogue at the Korea Pavilion.
