China opts out of UN’s aviation emissions pilot deal
China will no longer participate in the start of the world’s first and only international deal to curb emissions from the aviation industry – but it could rejoin. China has opted-out from the first stage of a UN programme to offset the aviation industry’s greenhouse gas emissions, in what could be a significant blow to global efforts to tackle climate change.
