Natasha Chan
Assistant Legal Researcher Email: nchan@mcstrmi.orgNatasha Chan is of Fijian and Chinese descent and is currently completing a Bachelor of Law at the University of the South Pacific. She has a strong passion for international law, climate policy, and sustainable maritime governance, driven by the opportunity to use legal frameworks and policy initiatives to support sustainable transport systems and climate solutions for Pacific Island communities.
Before joining MCST, Natasha worked as a legal assistant at a law firm, where she developed analytical and organisational skills while supporting legal administration, document management, and research in a fast-paced professional environment.
She joined MCST as an Assistant Legal Researcher, where she begins to engage with research and policy initiatives on maritime sustainability and shipping decarbonisation. In this role, she supports legal and technical aspects of international maritime issues, observes International Maritime Organization meetings, and assists with stakeholder engagement, surveys and research activities. She attended the IMO meetings in London in October 2025 as a technical assistant and will continue to build her skills and experience as she participates in future meetings.
Natasha is committed to developing her expertise in maritime law and policy, with a focus on advancing sustainable transport and climate action across the Pacific region.
