Morgan Wairiu

Education & Capacity Building Advisor

Dr. Morgan Wairiu earned his PhD in Environmental Soil Science from Ohio State University in the USA and a Master of Science from Aberdeen University in Scotland. He is currently the Pro Chancellor of Solomon Islands National University.

With extensive knowledge of environmental and development issues in the Pacific region, Dr. Wairiu understands government structures and systems at both national and community levels. His research focuses on climate change adaptation, risk assessment, and management. He has contributed to the IPCC Special Report on 1.5 degrees and authored the ‘small islands’ chapter of the IPCC Working Group II Sixth Assessment Report, representing the Solomon Islands. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Wairiu is a recognized expert in environment and sustainable development in the Pacific Islands.
