This paper aims to elucidate the theoretical gap between climate fairness principles such as ‘polluter pays’, ‘beneficiary pays’, ‘equal per capita rights’, ‘grandfathering’, ‘ability to pay’, ‘historical responsibility’ and ‘cost effectiveness’and the central theories of distributive justice in moral and political philosophy.
